American Dream Way

The William A. Hazel team partners up with Wheelock Communities to develop the American Dream Way project. An upscale town home community nestled between Old Reston AVE and Washington and Old Dominion Trial located and zoned for 78 lot in the County of Fairfax, Virginia. 

Breaking ground on this project in April of 2024 to its completion in August 2025, WAH has laid around 2 miles worth of wet utilities and trucked in 28,000 CY of suitable fill material all while managing operations with maintaining driveway access and operating in congested Northern Virginia conditions.   

This project is located in Loudoun County near Belmont Country Club. Beazer Homes is building 106 two-story condos and 57 three story townhouses. Its an 11-12 Acre site, with 120,000 CY’s of excavation, around 9,000 LF of utilities and a large underground detention system which will be completed by this fall. 

Welcome to The Ellipse Ph 2 at Westfields, the fastest-selling community in the Westfields area of Chantilly, Virginia! Buchanan Partners is developing the land and selling finished lots to Ryan Homes. This community features well-appointed townhomes with a convenient location near shopping, dining, commuter routes and recreation! 

Our scope consists of completing Phase 2.  It involves moving +/- 30,000 cubic yards of earth, installing 6,000 LF of pipe for the last 36 two and four level garaged townhomes.  

William A. Hazel, Inc. is partnering with the Virginia Department of Transportation to construct a new roundabout at the intersection of U.S. Route 33 and Route 20 East. This improvement will provide a seamless traffic flow and replace the previous “T” intersection that had a higher incidence of collisions. 

This project includes a full site development package consisting of approximately 2,000 linear feet of storm pipe and over 12,000 cubic yards of excavation. From initial grading through final paving, the Hazel team is dedicated to delivering a safer, more efficient roadway for the traveling public.

After completing the early grading and utilities consisting of blasting, 76,000CY of excavation, two bores under Heathcote Blvd for sanitary and water, crossing Little Bull Run creek with sanitary, WAH was awarded the next section of the project consisting of the Sprouts building, an inline retail building, and WAWA. This next section consists of 4 retaining walls with the tallest topping out around 26’ tall, WAH had to install a 72” storm pipe that outfalled through the 26’ tall retaining wall, installation of a bayfilter and ADS underground detection system that displaced 7,000CY of dirt.  

The William A. Hazel team is partnering with the Department of Public Works in Fairfax County to upgrade the existing gravity sanitary sewer infrastructure in Merrifield. This project includes replacing the existing 12-inch sewer line with 18-inch ductile iron pipe (DIP) to better serve the area’s growing population and support future development. Located along the corridor between Route 29 and Eskridge Road and the U.S. Postal Service’s Merrifield facility, the upgraded system will significantly improve capacity and reliability.  

The scope of work includes the installation of approximately 560 linear feet of 18-inch ductile iron sanitary sewer pipe, five new precast concrete manholes, and the rerouting of five existing sanitary laterals serving the United States Postal Service facility, PSI, and a single-family residence. 

Despite the challenges of working in a constrained urban environment, the Hazel team is delivering efficient, safe, and coordinated construction to minimize disruption and maximize long-term value for the Merrifield community. 

William A. Hazel, Inc. is working with Drees Homes to deliver the Brickyard at Leesburg, a residential development that offers a unique combination of modern living and small-town charm. Located just steps from historic downtown Leesburg, this walkable community will feature 60 townhomes across an 8-acre site. 

The project includes over 80,000 cubic yards of earthwork and over 9,000 linear feet of sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and waterline. Our team manages every phase of the site development to ensure timely and high-quality delivery. 

William A. Hazel, Inc. is working with the Branch Group on the VDOT J98 project along Popes Head Road in Fairfax County, a busy corridor that sees over 77,000 vehicles per day. The project involves relocating a major Fairfax County water main to accommodate roadway improvements. 

Our team is installing over 3,000 linear feet of new water main while navigating the challenges of working in and near an active roadway. Through careful coordination and execution, we are ensuring that construction progresses safely and with minimal disruption to local traffic and community.
