Mike Thomas began his career at William A. Hazel, Inc. in August 1984 as a Field Mechanic. He progressed through the company, from Field Mechanic to Field Maintenance Supervisor. In 1996 he was promoted to Shop Manager and was made Vice President of Equipment and Building Facilities in 2021.

Mike is responsible for the day-to-day operations of maintenance operations, acquisitions, and dispositions of equipment and trucks; and oversees all building maintenance.

Mike, a native of Clarke County Virginia, is a 1978 graduate of Clarke County High School and Dowell J. Howard Vocational School. He has continued his education in maintenance of heavy equipment repair and holds numerous certificates from the top-heavy equipment manufactures. In his spare time, he enjoys tractor pulls and spending time with his family.

Mike King graduated with a BS in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech in 1987 and began his career with William A Hazel, Inc. the same year. He started as an Estimator and was soon assisting the Project Managers with the day-to-day field operations. Becoming a full-time Project Manager in 1992, Mike was well respected with his management teams and his customers.

In 1995, Mike became Chief Estimator. As Chief Estimator, he reviewed, bid, and negotiated many projects in Northern Virginia and, along the way, developed many invaluable relationships with Hazel’s customers, while developing a top-notch estimating team. In April of 2018, Mike was named Vice President of Engineering. He now manages both the Engineering and Purchasing Departments. His responsibilities include soliciting bids, bidding, contracting, project management and purchasing.

Mike is a Virginia native, born in Danville, and grew up in Culpeper, Va. He currently lives in Leesburg, Va, with his wife Kathy and their two dogs. They enjoy spending time outside, hiking and playing with their dogs.
