Partsman

William A. Hazel, Inc., a total site development contractor for over 60 years, is seeking a Partsman to
join our team. Reporting to the Director of Equipment and Building Facilities. This position is responsible
for sourcing, ordering, receiving, tracking, and maintaining inventory parts for the company’s fleet, heavy
equipment, trucks, construction machinery, and shop operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude and a thorough understanding of equipment components and systems to ensure the correct parts are procured in a timely and cost-effective manner.

This position plays a critical role in minimizing equipment downtime by maintaining effective inventory
controls, managing vendor relationships, and supporting shop personnel with parts identification and
procurement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Order and procure parts for heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, construction equipment, and shop
    machinery.
  • Utilize mechanical knowledge to identify, source, and verify the correct parts for repairs and
    maintenance activities.
  • Maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and timely
    delivery.
  • Create, process, and track purchase orders (POs) and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
  • Monitor inventory levels and maintain appropriate stock of frequently used parts and supplies.
  • Receive, inspect, and organize incoming parts shipments.
  • Coordinate with mechanics, technicians, and supervisors to determine parts requirements and
    equipment needs.
  • Research equipment manuals, diagrams, and manufacturer resources to identify replacement
    parts.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with periodic inventory audits.
  • Track warranty claims and returns when applicable.
  • Ensure parts storage areas are organized, clean, and safe.
  • Assist with budgeting and cost-control efforts related to equipment maintenance and parts
    procurement.
  • Support emergency equipment repairs by expediting critical parts orders when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Equipment and Building Facilities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in parts management, equipment maintenance, fleet
    operations, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy equipment, construction machinery, trucks, trailers, and mechanical
    systems.
  • Ability to read equipment manuals, schematics, and parts diagrams.

Physical Requirements

  • Experience managing purchase orders, inventory systems, and vendor relationships.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and inventory management software.
  • Excellent organizational and recordkeeping skills.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting a team-oriented environment.
    Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the construction, utility, infrastructure, or heavy civil industry.
  • Familiarity with equipment manufacturers such as Caterpillar, John Deere, Komatsu, Ford,
    Freightliner, Peterbilt, Mack, and similar equipment providers.
  • Knowledge of fleet maintenance and equipment management practices.
    Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work in a shop environment and occasionally outdoors in varying weather conditions.
