Stone Laborers

William A. Hazel, Inc., a full-site development contractor with over 60 years of experience, is seeking a Stone Worker. This position reports to and is under the direction of the Stone Foreman or Superintendent. William A. Hazel, Inc. operates throughout the Northern Virginia area, including some areas in West Virginia. 

Essential Functions 
• Assist the grader operator when necessary. 
• Be able to perform tasks with a shovel. 
• Be willing to walk long distances when necessary. 
• Be able to adjust water valves. 
• Clean curbs. 
• Maintain a clean and organized work area. 
• Work according to the instructions of the competent authority. 

Requirements 

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to write and speak simple sentences. Ability to add and subtract simple numbers, and to multiply and divide. Ability to perform these operations using units of money and U.S. weight, volume, and distance measurements. Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed, but not complex, written or oral instructions. Ability to solve problems involving a few concrete factors in standardized situations. 

Physical Demands and Work Environment 
The characteristics of the work environment described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the tasks of this position, the employee regularly works in outdoor weather conditions and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is typically high. 

Salary: Hourly $20.00 to $22.00/hour
