This is one of our numerous Construction Foreman jobs which we are hiring for at our site development construction company in Northern Virginia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Pipe Foreman\u00a0is responsible for\u00a0directing and coordinating all underground and above-ground pipe installation activities on site development construction projects. This includes storm drainage, sanitary sewer, water main, and utility infrastructure. The Pipe Foreman leads a crew of operators, laborers, and pipe layers to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and in compliance with project plans, specifications, and applicable codes.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Key Responsibilities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Leadership &amp; Crew Management<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Supervise and direct a crew of 5\u201315 pipe layers, laborers, and equipment operators\u00a0on a daily basis\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assign tasks,\u00a0monitor\u00a0productivity, and maintain accountability for crew performance and attendance\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Train and mentor crew members on proper installation techniques, safety procedures, and company standards\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Communicate daily work plans, priorities, and schedule changes effectively to the crew\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pipe Installation and Field Operations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Oversee installation of storm drain, sanitary sewer, water main, and utility conduit systems\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Read and interpret construction drawings, grading plans, utility plans, and project specifications\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure proper trench excavation, bedding, pipe grade, alignment, and backfill per plans and specs\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Coordinate with survey crews to verify grades, alignments, and elevations prior to and during installation\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Direct the safe and efficient operation of excavators, dozers, compactors, and pipe laying equipment\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Coordinate concrete and masonry work associated with\u00a0manholes, inlets, headwalls, and junction structures\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Safety and Compliance<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Enforce all company, OSHA, and site-specific safety policies and procedures\u00a0at all times\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conduct daily toolbox talks and job hazard analyses (JHAs) before work begins\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure proper trench shoring, shielding, or sloping is in place per OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart P\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area; report unsafe conditions\u00a0immediately\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions as\u00a0required\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Quality Control and Documentation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Inspect materials upon delivery to verify conformance to specifications and reject non-conforming items\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Perform visual inspections and quality checks throughout the installation process\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Coordinate and support third-party inspections, compaction testing, and pipe deflection\/leakage testing\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain\u00a0accurate\u00a0daily field reports including crew hours, equipment usage, quantities installed, and site conditions\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify\u00a0and document changed conditions, extra work, and potential change order items promptly\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Coordination and Communication<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Coordinate daily with the Project Superintendent, Project Manager, and other trade\u00a0foremen\u00a0to\u00a0maintain\u00a0workflow\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Interface with owners, inspectors, utility companies, and subcontractors as needed\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Communicate material, equipment, and\u00a0manpower\u00a0needs to the superintendent in advance to avoid delays\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assist\u00a0with look-ahead scheduling and\u00a0identify\u00a0potential conflicts or constraints before they arise\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Qualifications<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Minimum\u00a07+ years of field experience in underground utility or site development construction\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Minimum\u00a03+ years in a supervisory or lead role directing pipe installation crews\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>High school diploma or GED\u00a0required; completion of a trade apprenticeship program preferred\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrated experience with storm drain, sanitary sewer, and water main systems\u00a0required\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proficient in reading and interpreting civil engineering drawings, utility plans, and project specifications\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Working knowledge of pipe materials including RCP, HDPE, PVC, DIP, and CMP\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to\u00a0operate\u00a0or direct the operation of excavation and pipe laying equipment\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Familiarity with laser levels, transit\/total stations, and grade setting equipment\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Basic computer skills; ability to use tablet or mobile apps for daily reporting preferred\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Valid driver&#8217;s license\u00a0required; CDL preferred\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required (or ability to obtain within\u00a090 days\u00a0of hire)\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Confined Space Entry, Competent Person Excavation training preferred\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>First Aid\/CPR certification preferred\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong leadership presence with the ability to motivate and hold a crew accountable\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Excellent problem-solving skills and sound judgment in a fast-paced field environment\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>High commitment to personal and crew safety\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dependable, punctual, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bilingual (English\/Spanish) a plus\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This position requires working outdoors in all weather conditions including extreme heat, cold, rain, and high-noise environments. The Pipe Foreman must be able to stand, walk, and work on uneven terrain for extended periods; lift and carry up to 75\u00a0lbs; enter and exit trenches and confined spaces; and\u00a0operate\u00a0handheld tools and equipment.
