CDL Class A Flat Bed Driver
William A. Hazel, Inc., a total site development contractor for over 50 years, is looking for a CDL Class A Flat Bed Driver. This position reports to and is under the direction of foreman or superintendent. William A. Hazel, Inc., operates all over the Northern Virginia Area.
Essential Functions
- Must tie their loads down to their trucks. This must be done properly to ensure safe transportation.
- Plan your driving routes.
- Get goods to jobsites on time.
- Monitor road conditions and watch for traffic congestion.
- Follow all applicable traffic laws.
- Report to supervisor any incidents encountered on the road.
- Inspect their trailer before and after the trip and record any defects they find.
- Follow accident procedures if an accident occurs.
- Report serious mechanical problems to the appropriate personnel.
- Keep their truck, and associated equipment, clean and in good working order.
- Take special precautions while driving.
- Follow all V-DOT regulations
Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Less than high school education required; or up to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education experience. 1-2 years of flatbed hauling experience. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only an occasional or no variables, and the ability to follow directions to a job site. Must have: Commercial Driver’s License: Class A with a clean driving record; DOT Medical Card: Up to Date.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibration. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in high precarious places and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
