Mr. Hazel Announces Retirement after 44 years !
May 30, 2008
Dear Employees:
Effective June 1, 2008 I will be formally retiring and Jay Keyser will
assume responsibilities as the Chief Executive Officer of William A. Hazel,
Inc. For over 44 years I have had the privilege of working with an outstanding
group of employees, together we have all focused on building a better
place for us to live and work. My personal expectation for my retirement
is that it will be a highly active retirement, continually guided by a
commitment to our state, community and civic causes—with a particular
emphasis on improving the quality of our educational opportunities.
I am firm in my resolve to retire and confident in the respect that I
have for Jay, our executive leadership, and the professionalism and dedication
of the entire management and employee teams. Jay has continually demonstrated
a history of wise financial decision making and stewardship, and has successfully
guided the company through several difficult economic cycles that have
negatively impacted the construction industry. My son, David, will serve
as the Chief Operating Officer with responsibilities for the Field Operations,
and will report directly to Jay.
My decision to retire at this time, is further secured by the knowledge
that the foundation of the W.A. Hazel, Inc. organization has always been
our employees and your continued commitment to getting our work done on
schedule and performing your responsibilities to the high standards of
excellence that has built our reputation and marked our successes for
the past 44 years. I fully expect that same commitment to Jay that you
have shown to me.
I personally want to thank you for your friendship and service, for being
a part of my life and for being a key part of the future of W. A. Hazel,
Inc. I wish you every possible success in business and life!
